Tyler Barr MD received his medical training, education & undergrad at Ventura County Medical Center Family Medicine Residency, University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Colorado State University. Dr. Barr's affiliations include; American Medical Association (AMA), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and California Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP).

Professional Background:

I've always been drawn to practicing in rural areas. My journey began with the rural program during medical school, where I gained invaluable experience through rotations across various rural areas in Colorado. Opting for a residency training program that offered a broad skill base, I aimed to prepare myself for the unique challenges of working in regions with limited specialist availability.

Why Plumas District Hospital?

Having previously traveled to Quincy and worked with PDH in the Emergency Department, I found the experience highly rewarding. The team at PDH impressed me with their dedication to patient care, their supportive nature, and a fun working environment. Quincy, with its scenic beauty and friendly community, quickly became one of my favorite areas in California. The opportunity to join PDH full time was a natural fit for me. The combination of in-hospital and clinic work aligns perfectly with my current career interests, and the outstanding people at PDH made the decision easy.

In addition to my medical practice, I've been volunteering with the Ventura County Air Search and Rescue for the past few years. This involvement allows me to provide emergency care for victims in remote areas of Ventura County through helicopter rescue missions. With a keen interest in wilderness medicine, I'm looking forward to working with the Plumas County Search and Rescue.

Dr. Tyler Barr is not just a dedicated physician but also someone deeply committed to serving communities, both in and out of the medical setting. His passion for rural healthcare and experience in emergency response make him a valuable addition to Plumas District Hospital.
